The hotel had a great location near Matlock Bath, with beautiful grounds, but the room, although dog-friendly, felt isolated and had issues with temperature control. The service was mostly friendly and attentive, although there was one rude encounter. Dining offered a good selection of freshly cooked food. Overall, a reasonable value for the facilities provided.

Rooms
7.0
The room, in an annex building, was dog-friendly but felt isolated, passing by kitchen facilities and toilets. Temperature control was an issue, with the radiator off at night and no immediate resolution by the duty manager. It felt hot and uncomfortable initially, possibly due to lack of air conditioning.
Service
8.0
Service was generally friendly and attentive, with one exception of rudeness that disrupted an otherwise relaxing stay.
Location
9.0
The location was ideal, a short walk from Matlock Bath with lovely grounds and close proximity to attractions like the National Tramway Museum. Cromford village was also within easy reach.
Dining
8.0
Dining provided a good selection of freshly cooked food, and the Arkwright Suite offered a pleasant dining experience.

8.6/10

The hotel offers generous rooms with good amenities, although a proper shower would be preferred over the cramped bath attachment. The lovely garden views at the back enhance the stay, but ventilation in the rooms could be better.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms were spacious and well-equipped with a hair dryer, iron/board, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, and good Wi-Fi. However, the bath attachment was cramped and poorly ventilated.
Service
9.0
The service was exceptional with friendly and welcoming staff who were accommodating, especially with dietary requirements and requests.
Location
9.0
The location was superb, offering stunning views of the gardens and hills beyond while being situated in a quiet relaxing place yet just a short walk to the village.
Dining
8.0
The dining experience was delightful with a good selection of food, although a more extensive menu would have been appreciated.
Facilities
9.0
The hotel facilities were lovely and well-maintained, enhancing the overall stay experience.

I booked this hotel for my 91-year-old mother, and it exceeded our expectations. The lady on reception was spot on, and the young lady who found us some toothpaste was very helpful. The dinner at the restaurant was amazing, and the breakfast was 10/10. I would definitely come back for another stay! ❤️

Rooms
7.0
The bedroom pictures were very dusty, and the rooms are a little dated. It would be reassuring to know that cleanliness is excellent given the current climate.
Service
9.0
The staff constantly went above and beyond for my awkward dietary requirements and requests. They looked after us very well and were particularly hospitable and attentive.
Location
8.0
The location is great in beautiful countryside, perfect for lovely walks from the grounds. There was a small issue with the annexe being damp and very old, with a bit of a smell coming from the bathroom.
Dining
8.0
I felt safe dining here, and the food was cooked to order which is so much better than the normal buffet. The menu was delicious, but I would have liked to see more locally sourced ingredients.
Facilities
8.0
The place worked very well given the current rules. Additionally, we enjoyed a welcome drink during our stay.
